The GEESC is a Study Group on Economics of Health and Crime, based at Centre for Development and Regional Planning – CEDEPLAR, graduate program in economics and demography of the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

The Study Group on Health and Crime Economics was formed in 2001, when intensive research on health economics began at CEDEPLAR.

Formed primarily by professors, researchers and students of graduate programs in economics and demography, the group develops academic research, especially in planning and evaluation of health and crime policies involving public and private sectors.
